Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy

Pelvic floor physical therapy is the heart of what I do - and the rest of the services support this foundational and essential aspect of health. Pelvic floor physical therapy focuses on the health of the muscles, connective tissues, and nerves that support the bladder, bowel, and reproductive organs.

Treatment begins with a thorough assessment of posture, movement, breathing patterns, and pelvic floor function. From there, care may include individualized exercises, movement retraining, and hands-on techniques (myofascial release and visceral manipulation), and nervous system strategies (Somatic Experiencing) to improve coordination, strength, relaxation, and mobility of the pelvic floor and surrounding structures.

This approach supports both men and women experiencing concerns such as bladder or bowel dysfunction, pelvic pain, and sexual dysfunction, while helping restore balance and confidence in the body’s natural function.

Visceral Manipulation

A gentle, pain-free, hands-on therapy that works with the organs and their connective tissues (fascia) to improve mobility and communication within the nervous system. This approach can support digestion, bloating, constipation, fertility, urinary concerns, and pain in the back, hips, shoulders, and neck.

Myofascial Release

A gentle, pain-free, hands-on therapy that works with the fascia surrounding your muscles. I assess your entire posture and alignment - from your head to your toes - to identify patterns that contribute to pain or restriction, so we can support balance and long-term comfort throughout your body.

Somatic Experiencing®

A mind-body approach that supports nervous system regulation through awareness of sensation, breath, and gentle movement. This work helps the body shift out of patterns of stress or overwhelm, creating more capacity for healing and resilience.

Exercise and Movement

As a physical therapist, exercise and movement is within my most foundational training. Exercise, posture, and mindful movement helps you reconnect to your body’s natural strength and rhythm, and helps improve something called proprioception - your body’s innate ability to sense where it is in space. This awareness improves body intelligence, posture, breath, coordination - all essential for the mind-body connection needed for optimal pelvic floor health.

Lifestyle

Of course, your treatment plan will include lifestyle modifications to support your long-term pelvic health. I work with you to explore small, realistic lifestyle changes that support your body and nervous system. This can include gentle adjustments to diet, mindful movement, posture and breath practices, hydration, and other daily habits that nurture your overall well-being.

What a Session May Look Like

Each session is tailored to you. Depending on your needs and preferences, we may focus on one approach or gently blend a combination of any of the above within a single session. Care is collaborative, consent-based, and paced to what feels supportive for your body that day.
