Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
While sessions are not billed directly to insurance, I’m happy to provide a detailed superbill that you can submit to your insurance company for potential out-of-network reimbursement, depending on your plan. Many insurance plans place limitations on physical therapy - such as restrictions treatment approaches or the number of visits allowed - which can make it difficult to provide the depth and individualized care this work requires. By working outside of insurance, I’m able to offer more personalized sessions and integrate various nervous system approaches without those restrictions. Can I schedule a discovery call before I book?
Yes. I’m happy to connect for a 10-minute discovery call to answer your questions and explore whether working together feels like a good fit. The best way to set up a discovery call is to fill out the “Contact Us” form. Within a business day, I’ll send you a text and we can set up a time that is convenient for you. What is a pelvic floor assessment? Will I need to have my pelvic floor assessed?
A pelvic floor assessment is a way of evaluating how the muscles and tissues of the pelvic floor are functioning. This may include looking at posture, breathing, movement patterns, and sometimes an internal pelvic exam to assess the muscles more directly. Internal assessment is never required, but can be a very importance piece of information to figure out the full picture of your pelvic health. Together we will decide what feels appropriate for you, and you are encouraged to begin with an external or whole-body approach first if you feel hesitant about an internal assessment. How soon should I come to pelvic floor therapy in pregnancy and postpartum?
Pelvic floor therapy is essential for pregnancy comfort, birth preparation, and postpartum healing. A pelvic floor assessment is highly recommended in the second or third trimester so we have time to address any findings and support your body as it prepares for birth. Please note that in the first trimester, I do not provide hands-on treatment or Somatic Experiencing, but rather we discuss symptom relief strategies through lifestyle and gentle movement instead. After birth, it is generally recommended to begin care around 2 weeks after a vaginal delivery and about 4 weeks after a cesarean birth, depending on how you’re healing. Home visits can be a wonderful option for early postpartum care, allowing you to receive gentle support in the comfort of your own space. What is Somatic Experiencing®?
Somatic Experiencing (SE) is a gentle, body-based approach that supports the nervous system in processing stress, trauma, and overwhelm. Rather than focusing only on talking about experiences, it helps you tune into physical sensations and restore a sense of safety and regulation in the body. This work can support healing by helping the body release patterns of tension and protection that may be contributing to pain, pelvic symptoms, or chronic stress. To learn more about SE, please visit: https://traumahealing.org/se-101/https://www.somaticexperiencing.com/somatic-experiencingWhat is Visceral Manipulation?
Visceral Manipulation is a gentle, pain-free, hands-on therapy that works with the internal organs (viscera) and the connective tissues that support them. Each organ in the body has a natural ability to move and glide with breathing, posture, and daily activity. Stress, inflammation, injury, surgery, or trauma can create restrictions in these tissues, limiting their natural mobility and affecting surrounding structures.Through subtle, precise touch, visceral manipulation helps restore healthy motion and communication between the organs, fascia, muscles, and nervous system. This approach can support improvements in pain, digestion, fertility, pelvic health, breathing, and overall body function by addressing restrictions that may be contributing to imbalance. Many people find visceral manipulation to be deeply relaxing while also helping the body return to a more natural state of ease. How do you support fertility?
Through visceral manipulation, myofascial release, and Somatic Experiencing, treatment focuses on improving blood flow to the reproductive organs, restoring mobility of the uterus and surrounding tissues, improving the mobility and function of body’s natural detoxification organs (especially the liver, kidneys, and gut) and helping regulate the nervous system to manage cortisol/adrenaline spikes and regulate hormones. This work supports the body in resolving the impacts of past injuries, inflammation, or trauma that may be affecting pelvic function and fertility.Fertility is influenced by many factors, including circulation, hormonal balance, nervous system regulation, and the health and mobility of the pelvic organs. Alongside your medical protocols, my approach supports fertility by optimizing the fascial mobility and alignment of the organs in the abdomen and pelvis, and supporting the nervous system to feel safe enough for the process of conception.Do you treat men?
Yes. While pelvic health therapy is often associated with women, men commonly experience pelvic floor dysfunction and can benefit greatly from treatment. I help men overcome concerns such as gut health issues, pelvic pain, urinary or bowel symptoms, sexual dysfunction, and tension related to stress or injury. Please fill out the “Contact Us” form if you would like to discuss your symptoms prior to the initial evaluation. Our safety and comfort is my top priority. Due to the intimate nature of this work, I take extra care to ensure a safe, respectful, and professional environment for both of us. Clear communication and informed consent are integral to every session. At any time during the treatment process, either of us may terminate the session if something does not feel comfortable. How many sessions will I need? How often will I come for follow up visits?
The number of sessions you will need will vary depending on how long you have been experiencing symptoms and the complexity of your case. Typically, 8-12 sessions are recommended for symptom relief, however in some cases it may take longer. We will go over your Plan of Care at the end of your Initial Evaluation. The vast majority of clients greatly improve by committing to the Plan of Care, versus scheduling single sessions “here and there”. Typically, I will recommend a frequency of 1-2 times a week for the first few weeks as we collaborate on improving your quality of life and reducing your symptoms, then we can space out your sessions to every 2-3 weeks as you feel better! Many patients continue monthly or bimonthly visits for wellness, and you are encouraged to do so. I would be honored to continue to journey with you. What do I wear to my visits?
I recommend that you come in clothing that is comfortable and loose-fitting. We may be doing some movement or body-work, and loose fitting clothing is typically the most comfortable for these treatments. What is the Plan of Care package price versus the single session price?
The Plan of Care package provides you with seven 55-minute sessions that never expire. That being said, I highly recommend that you follow the recommended scheduling plan that we discuss during your first visit to provide you with the best results. You receive a locked-in rate of $195 per session, that you can continue after your Plan of Care package is complete.I will outline what the Plan of Care looks like at the end of your Initial Evaluation to address your symptoms at the root. If I believe you need additional support outside of my scope of practice, I will refer you to the appropriate provider. You also have the option of scheduling single sessions at a time. The rate is $225 per 55-minute in-office session if you decide to go this route. Have a question that is not answered here?
